  69. Log-EQF Version 8 is a powerful, full-featured, and easy to use
  70. logbook program for Amateur Radio operators.
  71.  
  72. DESCRIPTION:  Log-EQF features a menu-driven system, complete
  73. with mouse control. Beam headings from your exact QTH, automatic
  74. reports from previous QSOs, date and time logging (with built-in
  75. UTC conversion), notepads, and a user-defined field make logging
  76. effortless.  DXCC country and CQ/ITU zone reports are available
  77. on-line from callsign entries.  CW may be sent from 6 memories
  78. or from the keyboard, using the CT serial or parallel interfaces.
  79. Most popular callsign databases are also supported.

  81. Complete TNC support includes a monitor window on the logging
  82. screen, a terminal program, and file upload and download
  83. provisions.  DX announcements can be sent and received using the
  84. built-in PacketCluster (tm) system.

  86. Radio interface functions are provided for most popular radios
  87. with computer control capability.  Radio frequency and mode are
  88. automatically entered into the logbook from the radio, and the
  89. VFO frequency and mode may be set from the logbook.

  91. Contest mode provides streamlined log entry, dupe-checking,
  92. multiplier scoring, and automatic serial number generation.
  93. Searches, sorts, QSL label and logbook printouts, and convenient

  96. Log-EQF will relocate into expanded memory, if available.

  100. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:  Log-EQF can be run on any 100% IBM-
  101. compatible computer with at least 512K memory and DOS 3.3 or
  102. higher.  The program works with all video adapters, monochrome or
  103. color.  A hard drive is recommended, but Log-EQF will run fine on
  104. floppy-based computers if the following files are installed:
  105. LOG-EQF.EXE, PREFIX.LIB, STATES.LIB, and DUPE-EQF.EXE.  (DUPE-
  106. EQF.EXE may be omitted if contest operation is not required).

  108. REGISTRATION:  The user registration fee for Log-EQF is $39.95 (U.S.
  109. funds).  Registered users receive the latest version of Log-EQF,
  110. along with DXCC, WAS, and logbook file import/export utilities.

  144. ===== Installation =====================================
  145.  
  146. The installation procedure for Log-EQF is quite simple.  The
  147. package includes a program, "INSTALL", which automates the
  148. entire process.  You will need about 1Mb of available disk space
  149. on the hard drive on which you plan to install Log-EQF.
  150.  
  151. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  152. Log-EQF.
  153.  
  154.  
  155. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  156.  
  157. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  158.  
  159.    o  Place Log-EQF distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  160.       appropriate diskette drive.
  161.  
  162.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.BAT" program on the distribution diskette.
  163.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  164.       the MS-DOS command, "a:", and then type "INSTALL"
  165.  
  166.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  167.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  168.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  169.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  170.       the Log-EQF files to that directory.  If you received Log-EQF
  171.       on two diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the diskette
  172.       drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the installation
  173.       program will install executable programs and documentation in
  174.       other directories of your choice.  It will make no other changes;
  175.       specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat or config.sys
  176.       files.

  179. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  180.  
  181. If you downloaded Log-EQF from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  182. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  183. following steps.
  184.  
  185.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  186.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  187.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  188.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  189.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  190.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  191.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  192.       the package.
  193.  
  194.    o  Execute the "INSTALL" program which you have extracted.  For
  195.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  196.       the Log-EQF package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  197.       command, "cd c:\tempdir\", and then type "INSTALL".

  216. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the documents
  217. (filename extension "TXT") which have been installed.  In particular,
  218. read at least the "Overview" and "Quick Start" sections of the file
  219. "LOG-EQF.TXT".  That document will tell you how to invoke the program,
  220. and will give you other information you need to properly evaluate
  221. Log-EQF.

  224. WIN31.TXT and WIN95.TXT for guidelines.
